And Finally - Election Day

This morning, a friend who's seen over 5 decades of elections in Australia said, "I'm glad we don't have to put up with this drama again for another two years!" He was referring to a whirlwind election campaign, contested mainly by the Labour and Coalition parties. The media has been (surprisingly) brutal on the key candidates, fuelling speculation of failure for both parties.
In what seems to be a repeat of the elections in the UK this year, Australia seems to be heading towards a hung parliament. The candidates spent the past few weeks decrying the pitfalls of the other parties, rather than focusing on their strengths and what they can do (yes, we can). Television advertisements were used to air the other parties' dirty laundry. Actions not generally reflective of Australian good nature.
No more pesky political ads on TV. For at least another two years.
