Lazy Sunday afternoons

It happens to all of us at some point. You know - first signs of grey hair, panting after five minutes of basketball, struggling to get to work on Monday morning, reeling from the affects of a crazy weekend.

Here's another addition to the crazy list of things I do - MC! I hosted a corporate party on Saturday night, stayed out until 3am, trying to get everyone else to have fun. A few minor hiccups (like the female dancer who wanted to shed clothes. I had to walk on to stage mid-routine, cut the music and cart her off the stage, with an apologetic look at the mums with kids). I guess it's part of the job, being ready for unwarranted surprises.

My parents hosted a family lunch on Sunday. It's something else meeting family after 8 years, but I have no response when someone walks up and says, Do you recognise me, I held you up as a three year old kid. It's fantastic to be surrounded by grand uncles, aunts, whacky uncles, cousins and their spouses and kids! Inane chatter usually leads to the inevitable question - So, when are YOU getting married? That's what families want - more kids running around driving people insane!!! In that once-a-year meeting, your extended family wants to know if you've got a fantastic paying job/plans to settle down/expecting children... if the answer to most of these questions is yes, then all is well. If no, then you better be ready with a good explanation. Mine usually starts with how difficult it is these days to find a good wedding planner...

Went to a friend's barbeque after lunch, chilled out in the lazy sun, good food, good people - I love my Sundays. I've decided that lunches and bbqs with good friends are the new Saturday nights for me. I declare that I'm finally over clubbing and partying at crazy hours... unless I get paid for it ;)
