I challenge myself to do things out of the ordinary. It makes life interesting. Sometimes, I fail - but that doesn't stop me from trying.
I haven't been on a local bus for over 10 years. I remember those days, as a school kid, I had no other choice. Had to use a bus to get around. Not great memories either - the b.o., lack of space, having to jump off/board moving buses. There were instances when I fell out of a moving bus, even had a guy try to get fresh - didn't end too well for him!
Since I got back from Melbourne, I've had a car at my disposal and on rare occasions, I use an auto. So I decided to leave the car at home and get on a bus - just for kicks. First, I stand out like a sore thumb cos of my clothes. Second, I'm easy target for pick-pockets (or so it seems). Third, it gets hot on a bus - hence sweaty clothes. I decided anyway that it was time for me to do something different
Saturday morning - I got to the bus stop, waited two minutes and ended up catching an auto to work!!! At the end of the day, I figured it couldn't be all that bad - I wasn't wearing formals, so it would be easier. Walked down to the bus stop, got on a fairly empty bus - Rs. 2 to get home - beat that! The scene inside the bus - still the same. I was doing ok - kept telling myself how this was turning out quite well.
Half-way home, the engine starts steaming and the driver pulled over. Five minutes later, I found myself walking the rest of the way home!!! Here's a picture of the bus that broke down and the group of people harassing the conductor...
