"You should wear that line on a t-shirt", I said to a friend recently. It stuck in my conscious mind and I started going through my list of incredibly fun but extremely unhealthy indulgences. We all go through a rebellious phase, doing the things we know aren't good for us, justifying it with old James Dean clichés.
I'm learning (the hard way) that lifestyle changes, kicking old habits is not just time-bound but also about having the right influences around you. People who support your healthy habits and don't ridicule you for doing what's good for you, just 'cos they can't. A good friend is hard to find - you know, the kind that motivates and encourages you, celebrates your victories without envy and feels your pain when things don't go well. These are also the people that are tough on you when you're in the wrong. Do your friends always support you, even when you do the things that hurt you and others? Get real and then get some real friends.
