It doesn't really feel like I had a vacation. There's a small voice in the back of my head telling me that Singapore was a completely work-related trip, but it was the other aspects that left me so exhausted! I stayed home today, watching TV and just chilling. Now, my sleep bank has been replenished.
As agreed, I exchanged my two PCs with dad for the ibook - setup the LAN server at a different location in the office, along with my home PC. Re-arranged my cabin, got a comfy couch and my lunch hour(s) now includes a siesta!
I will soon be able to publish "The ten commandments of sensible travel"! My last international travel was from Melbourne to Hyderabad, my baggage weighed in at 70Kgs!!! Somehow, they let me through with 43 and the rest had to be shipped. Mental note - never, ever exceed 30Kg, even if you're moving base, best to just give stuff away, especially your precious stash of fashion and health magazines! Not to mention all the wasted shopping - buying things for people and not having them use your gifts for whatever reason.
This time around, in Singapore, my ticket on Sunday morning was originally on wait list and then confirmed. I checked with my travel agent, he assured me it was confirmed. Sunday morning, Adrian and I get to the airport and the check-in lady just says, "Sorry, this flight is overbooked, you should have confirmed your ticket 72 hours prior to travel". Can't really blame anyone, its just something I should have checked, to be safe. Anyway, I had to wait until 30 minutes before take-off and managed to get a seat cos someone else didn't show up. If I hadn't taken that flight, I would have been stuck in Singapore until Wednesday! So far, that's two - I'm sure the other eight won't take long...
