I watched a few shows lately that involved a marriage proposal. I wonder if there's a reason why proposals on television and movies include an open box containing a ring? The man, on bended knee, displays the ring as he asks the question. Sometimes, it feels like the girl is saying yes to the ring and not necessarily the man. Maybe I should never have watched the season finales of 'The Bachelor,' and 'The Bachelorette.' On the other hand, the proposal in the movie version of 'An Ideal Husband,' is classic. No ring, just a blurted out question with a happy ending.
