I find myself yet again in the 'In-Between.' That's how I refer to the period of waiting in romantic movies. Guy likes girl, girl likes guy, drama ensues and time lapses before the eventual happy end. The time lapse is the 'in- between,' where the plot develops, the characters learn, change and become better people. Except, in real life, there isn't so much drama, but patient waiting, especially in long distance relationships. My lovely girlfriend is back in London and I am preparing to leave to Sydney. A period of separation that is going to test our communication, commitment and loyalty.
I wonder if, with so much travel these days, long distance relationships have become the norm and the periods a couple spends in the same city are the 'in-betweens'? That would be tragic. Skype is a handy tool, but nothing replaces a warm embrace and being in the presence of the object of your affection.
