A girl with a keen taste in photography, an electronics engineer and an Indian with a sweet tooth decided to start a blog. The goal? To document our quest to find the best double ka meetha in Hyderabad. If you're not Indian, it's difficult to explain this dessert. The literal translation would be 'double the sweet.' Or twice as sweet? You get the picture. Sugar overload. It's bread pudding, but it's not. Just so much better when made right. Baked, brown, moist caramelized goodness with a garnish of cashews and raisins.
The three of us decided to try this dessert all over town, rate different restaurants, take pictures and put them on a foodies blog. Trouble is, I already found a place that makes the most amazing dkm. It's conveniently located a block away from where I live.
Yesterday, I had such a craving for dkm. I walked by the post office ;) and through the metal detectors at the restaurant (apparently people with intense cravings can be dangerous). The restaurant owner committed a grave sin - he replaced my favorite sweet with another that I didn't desire. For the next twenty minutes, I cajoled him into urgently ordering a batch of dkm from the other branch in the neighbouring city. He agreed to bring it in at 8pm.
I played ping pong for two hours to get over my craving. Didn't even bother going back to the restaurant. See, I mastered my craving by being disciplined. Except that today, I've just got one thing on my mind...
Yup, ping pong ;)
