Kristy, one of the regulars at my gym recommended an Indian restaurant. She wrote down the address on a piece of paper, which I left on the desk. Stephen, a sixty-something Californian, stopped in front of the desk with a funny look on his face. He stared at the upside-down piece of paper and asked, "How many zeroes are there in Woolloomooloo?"
Eight.
"Anthropologist J.D. McCarthy wrote in 'NSW Aboriginal Places Names', in 1946, that Woolloomooloo could be derived from either Wallamullah, meaning place of plenty or Wallabahmullah, meaning a young black kangaroo." (Wikipedia).
So, it is - I'm having Indian food in an inner city, eatern suburb of Sydney with eight O's.
