A little brat!

There is nary a dull moment at music class. Five or six kids in three hours - no time to relax when they all show up for class. I usually start off with two kids - brothers, absolute brats. As with most children their age, they struggle to sit still. The younger one turned six last week. Initially, he wouldn't talk much, communicating mainly through grunts and shakes of the head. Now, he's comfortable with me, so we have interesting conversations, like how he's planning to eat an entire cake at his birthday party and throw up on his brother. FYI, he idolizes his elder brother, just has a funny way of expressing his adoration.

In an effort to keep this kid occupied while his brother sat at the piano, trying to play his pieces - I gave him a piece of paper, a pen and free rein to his artistic ability. Five minutes later:

Notice the devil's tail, the alleged horns and the evil grin, with jagged teeth. To soften it a little, he decided to add spectacles. Or, maybe he was trying to draw 'monkey-man'? Hmmm, I could start a discourse on his personality based on his doodles, but let me just say that this kid is adorable - mischievous, but adorable.

That is, when he's not holding a big stone in his hand as his brother comes running around the corner. Poor elder kid claims he never saw the stone as he ran into it and chipped his tooth. Ouch! As he related the story of the chipped tooth, his little kid brother sat with a blank expression - the picture of adolescent innocence. Brat!
