What's the point?

Technology is slowly becoming the bane of our existence. Shouldn't we be living carefree lives with a lot more spare time, now that we have machines working for us? Sure, its great to eat microwaved eggs, boil water in kettle, use a toaster for breakfast - but its such a rush job! I hop into my car and drive into peak-hour traffic, curses and horns all around. People on bicycles do much better. The phone doesn't stop ringing at work and I get back home with PC eyes every night. I can't eat dinner without watching TV and in the process, I get addicted to some junk and can't get off the couch. I need loud, blaring hip-hop while I work out, can't play my keys without the right amp settings, need a vacuum to clean and not a day goes by when I feel compelled to call someone or someone feels compelled to call and talk for an hour! There are times when I switch my mobile off, for some peace and tranquility - only to get accusatory cries of, "Why wasn't your phone on?", "What's the point of having a mobile if its gonna be switched off?". Errr, maybe I'm trying to avoid you cos you're getting on my nerves???
